Behaviour Therapy and Support
Adrasteia Services provides individualised support to assist participants to reduce the incidence and severity of behaviours of concern and support positive behaviours. By using the Positive Behavior Support framework, we are able to build an understanding of why these challenging behaviours are occurring and we do this based on an assessment of the person, their carers and their support system. Our team is passionate about understanding why you or a loved one might use inappropriate or challenging behavior and what can be done to build capacity in a safe, enjoyable environment.
What is Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
Positive behaviour support is a way of working with people with mental illness and disabilities to improve their life with positive strategies and by addressing behaviours of concern. These behaviours can have a detrimental impact on a person’s life and make it difficult for members of the formal and informal networks to provide support.
Positive behaviour support focuses on understanding the cause of the behaviour of concern and developing strategies to enable the person’s needs to be met without using behaviours of concern.
